From the Garden of Eden to the Exodus, from Rome’s rise to the final Revelation, Scripture paints a sweeping arc of exile and return—a cycle of rebellion, warning, mercy, and restoration. It is within this biblical pattern that astonishing prophecies—including a 1968 one spoken by Gunhild Smelhus, a 90-year-old Norwegian woman— resurface with chilling relevance today. Once dismissed as unimaginable, her vision—recorded by evangelist Dr. Emanuel Minos—foretold a society unraveling through spiritual decay, moral collapse, and global conflict.
As nations like Germany now brace for war, echoing the tension before previous world catastrophes, these prophecies not only mirror the timeline of Genesis to Acts and Revelation but also compel us to reexamine Revelation through the lens of our modern moment. The Promised Land and divided kingdoms are no longer ancient metaphors—they are playing out again, in real time. What was once written as extreme now stands terrifyingly familiar.
What is currently transpiring has been prophesied
The website, Off Grid Worship, has published an undated piece of writing titled “1968 Prophecy by a 90 year old Norwegian woman.” The unnamed author of this account begins, saying “I found this prophecy interesting. Much of it has already come to pass. I wanted to keep it here for future reference. Dr. Emanuel Minos passed away in 2014.
This prophecy was given by a 90-year-old woman in Norway (in 1968) about events leading up to the second coming of Christ. An Evangelist by the name of Dr. Emanuel Minos wrote this prophecy down in 1968 and thought it was so extreme that he put it away. He reviewed the prophecy and was amazed that it is not ‘extreme’ anymore—but the norm in our society.”
Behold the prophecy
The senior woman in Valdres in Norway—Smelhus (1876-1973)— reportedly experienced a vision from God in 1968. The late evangelist Dr. Minos held meetings and services where she dwelt. He thus obtained the opportunity to meet her, whereby she related to him what she had seen, Manos writing it. Yet, he deemed it to be so unintelligible and irrational that he kept in a drawer for a long period of time. Almost 30 years after, he understood that he had to disseminate the vision to the world.
Smelhus was trusted as a very alert, reliable, awake, and credible Christian, with a good reputation among all who knew her. She told Manos “I saw the time just before the coming of Jesus and the outbreak of the Third World War. I saw the events with my natural eyes. I saw the world like a kind of a globe and saw Europe, land by land. I saw Scandinavia. I saw Norway. I saw certain things that would take place just before the return of Jesus, and just before the last calamity happens, a calamity the likes of which we have never before experienced.”
Four waves—portending signs

“First before Jesus comes and before the Third World War breaks out there will be a ‘détente’ like we have never had before. There will be peace between the superpowers in the east and the west, and there will be a long peace. In this period of peace, there will be disarmament in many countries, also in Norway and we are not prepared when it (the war) comes. The Third World War will begin in a way no one would have anticipated – and from an unexpected place.” On this wave, the late Manos warned “Remember, that this was in 1968 when the cold war was at its highest.”
The second wave is unprecedented lukewarmness. “A lukewarmness without parallel will take hold of the Christians, a falling away from true, living Christianity. Christians will not be open to penetrating preaching. They will not, like in earlier times, want to hear of sin and grace, law and gospel, repentance and restoration. There will come a substitute instead: prosperity (happiness) Christianity.”
“The important thing will be to have success, to be something; to have material things, things that God never promised us in this way. Churches and prayer houses will be emptier and emptier. Instead of the preaching we have been used to for generations—like, to take your cross up and follow Jesus, – entertainment, art and culture will invade the churches where there should have been gatherings for repentance and revival. This will increase markedly just before the return of Jesus.”

According to International Mission Board in its 11 February 2019 story “Praying for Empty Churches in Europe to Be Filled”, the proliferation of empty churches in Europe shows no signs of abating. The editor’s note reads “Over the past twenty years, more than five hundred Catholic churches have closed in Germany—of those a third were demolished and the others sold for development. But it’s not just Catholics feeling the pain of secularization; it’s Protestants too.”
The Associated Press in its 22 June 2023 story “In Europe’s empty churches, prayer and confessions make way for drinking and dancing” highlights “ Across Europe, the continent that nurtured Christianity for most of two millennia, churches, convents, beguinages and chapels stand empty and increasingly derelict as faith and church attendance shrivelled over the past half century. Now, ever more of the once sacred structures are repurposed for anything from clothes shops, wall-climbing clubs and night clubs.”
Attendance of houses of prayer declined significantly both in the United States of America in the 2000s. Gallup— in its 29 March 2021 piece “U.S. Church Membership Falls Below Majority for First Time”—reported “U.S. church membership was 73% when Gallup first measured it in 1937 and remained near 70% for the next six decades, before beginning a steady decline around the turn of the 21st century. Americans’ membership in houses of worship continued to decline last year, dropping below 50% for the first time in Gallup’s eight-decade trend. In 2020, 47% of Americans said they belonged to a church, synagogue or mosque, down from 50% in 2018 and 70% in 1999.”
In Europe the decline started in 1981. Encyclopedia.pub says “A 2015 analysis of the European Values Study in the Handbook of Children and Youth Studies identified a ‘dramatic decline’ in religious affiliation across Europe from 1981 to 2008.”
Moral disintegration constitutes the third wave. “There will be a moral disintegration that old Norway has never experienced the likes of. People will live together like married without being married.” On this subject, Dr. Manos said “I do not believe the concept ‘cohabitor’ existed in 1968”. She continued “Much uncleanness before marriage and much infidelity in marriage will become the natural (the common), and it will be justified from every angle. It will even enter Christian circles and we pet it—even sin against nature. Just before Jesus’ return, there will be TV programs like we have never experienced.” Dr. Manos specified “TV had just arrived in Norway in 1968.”

Television screens will blaze with blood-soaked spectacles, where murder and mayhem parade as entertainment, seeping like venom into the minds of viewers until violence becomes a rehearsed routine on our very streets. Like wildfire through dry fields, countless ‘stations’ will flood homes with brutal images—each one normalizing destruction, until the echo of screen-born savagery becomes the soundtrack of everyday life. That was another key element of her prophecy.
“TV will be filled with such horrible violence that it teaches people to murder and destroy each other, and it will be unsafe in our streets. People will copy what they see. There will not be only one ‘station’ on TV, it will be filled with ‘stations.’ Dr. Manos explained “She did not know the word ‘channel’ which we use today. Therefore, she called them stations.
TV will be just like the radio where we have many ‘stations,’ and it will be filled with violence. People will use it for entertainment. We will see terrible scenes of murder and destruction one on the other, and this will spread in society.”

The 2 November 2016 story “Horror story Real-life crimes inspired by films and TV shows… including Scream copycat murders and a foiled Saw torture plot” published by The Sun confirms Smelhus’ prophecy around television with regard to its ability to induce violence. One of the crimes is that which was perpetrated by Thierry Jaradin. The story reads “Inspired by a scene in the 90s cult horror Scream, lonely Belgian truck driver Thierry Jaradin, 24, brutally murdered 15-year-old schoolgirl Alisson Cambier in November 2001.”
She also foretold that screens would flicker with shameless intimacy, laying bare the sacred moments of marriage for public spectacle, modesty crumbling and decency being dragged into the glare of entertainment. “Sex scenes will also be shown on the screen, the most intimate things that take place in a marriage.” Dr. Manos vehemently rejected it. “I protested and said ‘ we have a paragraph that forbids this kind of thing.” The old woman replied to “It will happen, and you will see it. All we have had before will be broken down, and the most indecent things will pass before our eyes.”
The fourth wave “People from poor countries will stream to Europe.” In 1968 there was no such thing as immigration, according to Dr. Minos. Nevertheless, the prophetess said “They will also come to Scandinavia — and Norway. There will be so many of them that people will begin to dislike them and become hard with them. They will be treated like the Jews before the Second World War. Then the full measure of our sins will have been reached”. Dr. Manos strongly denied this too. “I protested at the issue of immigration. I did not understand it at the time.”
According to Dr. Manos, the tears streamed from the old woman’s eyes down her cheeks and she predicted “I will not see it, but you will. Then suddenly, Jesus will come and the Third World War breaks out. It will be a short war.” (She saw it in the vision.)”
“All that I have seen of war before is only child’s play compared to this one, and it will be ended with a nuclear atom bomb. The air will be so polluted that one cannot draw one’s breath. It will cover several continents, America, Japan, Australia, and the wealthy nations. The water will be ruined. We can no longer till the soil. The result will be that only a remnant will remain.
The remnant in the wealthy countries will try to flee to the poor countries, but they will be as hard on us as we were on them. I am so glad that I will not see it, but when the time draws near, you must take courage and tell this. I have received it from God, and nothing of it goes against what the Bible tells. The one who has his sin forgiven and has Jesus as Savior and Lord is safe.”
Like a distant trumpet sounding before the storm, decades-old prophecies have echoed through Christian circles—not to entertain, but to awaken a slumbering Church before the rising tide of deception, moral decay, and judgment foretold in the four waves that now crash upon our time. This senior woman’s frightening prophecy features among prophecies that Pastor John of Strengthen the Faithful— with the “sole intention of alerting individuals to the serious spiritual state we are in”—addresses.
He highlights “These prophecies have been circulating around Christian circles for decades and are useful to awaken those who have become complacent in their faith. All such ‘modern prophecy’ of course needs to be tested in the light of Holy Scripture and today there is no way to be certain if these prophecies were given by the Holy Spirit. However, because most predictions have already been fulfilled, these prophecies are a useful catalyst to encourage individuals to study what Bible prophecy itself teaches, which we know has indeed come from the Holy Spirit.”
Predictions that Germany will lead in World War 3

The Trumpet constitutes the official website of the Philadelphia Trumpet newsmagazine. The Philadelphia Trumpet started in February 1990 and is published 10 times a year by the Philadelphia Church of God. This platform says that its model originates in 1934 and the creation of the Plain Truth magazine by Herbert W. Armstrong. Between 1934 and 1986, Armstrong explained world news and delivered multiple prophecies, many of which have been or are currently being fulfilled, according to The Trumpet. The Trumpet states that it carries the mantle of Mr. Armstrong and the Plain Truth today.
Armstrong (1892–1986) was a prominent American religious leader, radio and television broadcaster, and founder of the Worldwide Church of God (WCG). He is best known for his prophetic teachings, his widely distributed magazine The Plain Truth, and his role in shaping mid-20th-century apocalyptic Christianity.
The Trumpet released a story “A Nazi Vision Realized”. This story is opened by these words “A recently released document powerfully vindicates the predictions about the developing European political union and army made by Herbert W. Armstrong 56 years ago.”
This story reports that in The World Tomorrow radio broadcast on 9 May 1945, the late Armstrong stated “We don’t understand German thoroughness. From the very start of World War ii, they have considered the possibility of losing this second round, as they did the first—and they have carefully, methodically planned, in such eventuality, the third round—World War iii!”
In reaction to this statement, The Trumpet’s story reads “To foreign-policy bureaucrats and politicians in Britain and America, this statement, if it were made to them today, would be viewed as preposterous. But consider just how unbelievable this statement would have been to the foreign-policy gurus and politicians in 1945, when Herbert W. Armstrong broadcast it even while the newly forming United Nations organization was beginning to debate the peace terms upon the conclusion of World War ii.”
In this same broadcast, according to The Trumpet, Armstrong declared of those minds which had conceived and launched the greatest war in mankind’s history. “This round of war, in Europe, is over. And the Nazis have now gone underground.”
This magazine continues “If you heard Mr. Armstrong’s frequent repetition of those words, if you read his writings where he expounded on these statements often, perhaps you doubted his farsighted vision at the time.
Or if you are one who has heard of or read the blatant lies which have been spread by the very church which he founded, the Worldwide Church of God, since his death 15 years ago, you may well have doubted the following prognosis by Mr. Armstrong of what would happen following World War ii: ‘Now a Nazi underground is methodically planned. They plan to come back and to win on the third try.’

The Trumpet adds “The Bible foretells that third round—and it spells doom for us, as God’s punishment, because we, as a nation, have forsaken Him and His ways! The third round is termed, in prophecy, an invasion by ‘Babylon’—a resurrected Roman empire—a European Union. I have been proclaiming that since 1927.”
Gerald Flurry serves as the pastor general of the Philadelphia Church of God and editor in chief of the Trumpet newsmagazine. What he said in 2000 indicates that he was impressed by Armstrong’s prediction. “Referring to this visionary insight of Armstrong as depicted in these statements which he broadcasted even while Nazi Germany lay in the ashes of abject defeat, our editor in chief, made this observation in the February 2000 issue of the Trumpet: ‘If you understand what is happening in Germany and Europe, you know that statement was an astounding prophecy!’”
Flurry went on, citing a paper which appeared in 1996. The paper was a result the World Jewish Congress’ investigations into the transfer of Jewish money and property looted by the Nazis during World War II. The Trumpet explains “This previously suppressed document recorded a meeting that took place in August 1944 between an SS general, a representative of the German Ministry in charge of armaments and German corporate moguls. The SS general instructed these bureaucrats and industrialists to prepare to finance the Nazi Party when it went underground following the war.”
“They were also told that ‘existing financial reserves in foreign countries must be placed at the disposal of the [Nazi] Party so that a strong German empire can be created after the defeat,” according to the report. Up to now, that paper was the strongest evidence available from secular sources vindicating the consistent declarations of Herbert W. Armstrong on this fact of history.”
Like a ghost from the ashes of history, a chilling new document has emerged in London. According to The Trumpet, the document breaths fresh life into warnings that the European Union may constitute the modern vessel for an unfinished Nazi ambition. “But now a further damning document has surfaced in London that adds great credibility to Mr. Armstrong’s claims that the European Union would become the fulfillment of the Nazi dream, a political and military instrument to carry out their wishes in a third attempt by Germany to dominate the globe, not only economically, not just politically, but ultimately by force of arms!”
The Trumpet says that London’s Daily Telegraph once reported “The idea of a pan-European economic and political union with its own defense force was conceived by SS officers, according to documents released today to the Public Record Office in Kew.” “Major Gen. Ellersiek and Brig. Mueller, Hitler’s chief of staff during the Battle of the Bulge, came up with the idea as a means of keeping Nazism alive following the expected Allied victory in the Second World War….By March 1946, Ellersiek was in charge of an underground political party called Organisation Suddeutschland. It believed in the establishment of a fully armed, united Europe” (Feb. 15).”
The Trumpet in its already mentioned story emphasizes “Can we see why some of the clearer thinkers in Britain fear the current development of a Euroforce, controlled by the German-dominated EU, with a German general leading it?”
According to Off Grid Worship, an elder in the Pentecostal Church at Moss, Norway, Martin Andersen, heard the following prophecy in 1937, in Moss: ‘When oil comes out of the North Sea and along the Norwegian coast, things will begin to happen, and the return of Jesus is approaching.’
Off Grid Worship adds “When these words had been proclaimed, people stood up in the congregation and asked the man to sit down and not speak such nonsense. In 1937 it was indeed nonsense to talk about oil being pumped along the Norwegian coast. Today all the world’s big oil companies are pumping oil along the coast of Norway. Norway is the world’s second* greatest exporter of oil – after Saudi Arabia. *Now third greatest.” Its fulfillment also corroborates that people must heed prophecies, rather than categorically rejecting them.

According to Yale University—Yale School of Management, oil was discovered in the 1960s in Norway. Though in 2025, Norway doesn’t occupy the second place worldwide in oil production, it remains the largest oil producer in Europe and this sector constitutes the most important one in this country. Reuters in its 27 May 2025 story headlined “Norway oil industry set to invest record amount in 2025”reports “The country’s biggest business sector expects to invest 269.1 billion crowns ($26.62 billion) in 2025, up from a 253.8 billion crowns estimate in February and compared to 251.2 billion last year.”
The European Conservative— an online publication, in its 12 March 2025 story “Norway, a Winner in the Russia-Ukraine War”— explains “Norway is Europe’s largest oil producer, accounting for nearly 60% of continental production in 2021. In 2023, 2 million barrels of crude oil were produced per day, 85% of which was exported, so Norway met 2% of the world’s crude oil needs. Currently, the Nordic country is the 12th largest oil producer in the world.”
Germany and Europe nations preparing for a world war
The Economic Times published a story headlined “World War 3: From tanks to shelters, how Germany is preparing for a global war on 115th anniv of WW 1 with Operation Deutschland” on 10 June 2025. It reads “Germany is bracing for a potential conflict with Russia, fearing a possible attack on a NATO member by 2029. The nation is urgently upgrading its civil defense infrastructure, including repurposing existing spaces into shelters, aiming to accommodate up to one million people.”
At the time of Armstrong’s prophecy, Germany was flattened, lying in ruins and shame, devastated by defeat. Yet Armstrong foretold a future in which Germany would rise again to plan and potentially lead a third global conflict. Now, this nation forms the third largest economy globally— after the United States of America and China—and the largest in Europe.

Back to The Economic Times’ story, it points out “Germany, which ignited both World War I and World War II, is now preparing for the possibility of another major conflict—this time, fearing an attack from Russia. Germany is now fearing that the war could erupt in 2029—exactly 115 years after Germany declared war on Russia in 1914.
According to multiple reports, Germany is taking urgent steps to expand and modernize its network of bunkers and civil defense shelters amid growing concerns that Russia could launch an assault on a NATO member within the next four years.
In a bit to protect her citizens and because of the remaining insufficient time and urgency, Germany has avoided creating new structures. “Instead of building new structures—which would be time-consuming and expensive—Germany is focusing on repurposing existing spaces such as metro stations, tunnels, underground garages, and public building basements to provide shelter for civilians. The goal is to quickly accommodate up to one million people in case of an emergency.”
The same source—The Economic Times in its 28 March 2025 story entitled “World War III on the horizon? Why European nations are preparing for war—And what it means for the world”—underlines that Europe is also preparing itself for the third world war.
It states “World War III: As global tensions rise, Europe is preparing for the unthinkable: war. The Middle East is once again a flashpoint, with Israeli airstrikes on Gaza and US involvement in Yemen raising fears of regional escalation. Meanwhile, Russia’s continued aggression in Ukraine has led NATO to sound the alarm, warning that a full-scale European conflict could erupt by 2030. With growing military cooperation between Russia, China, North Korea, and Iran, experts fear the world may be inching towards a Third World War. Governments across Europe are urging citizens to prepare—because the next global conflict may not be far off.”
The Economic Times underlines that the prospect of World War Three no longer feels like distant speculation. “European nations are openly preparing for war, urging their citizens to stockpile food, water, and emergency supplies.”
NATO’s Secretary General Mark Rutte has recently cautioned that Russia could undertake a full-scale attack on Europe by 2030.
The Economic Times reports “As tensions rise, European governments are urging citizens to be ready. Countries like Sweden, Finland, and Germany have published emergency preparedness guides, advising people to stockpile food, water, and medicine. Sweden’s guide, If Crisis or War Comes, warns citizens to be mentally prepared for conflict. Finland, which shares an 800-mile border with Russia, mandates military service for men and has extensive civil defence plans in place.
France is preparing to release a new survival manual, though officials insist it is not specifically about war. Germany has also updated its emergency preparedness recommendations, advising people to stockpile ten days’ worth of essentials. Meanwhile, the UK has yet to issue similar guidance, sparking concerns that Britain is falling behind in crisis readiness. Beyond household preparedness, European nations are rapidly boosting their air defences.” Meanwhile, Politico has written “Vladimir Putin just achieved the impossible: genuine European unity.”

One of the most staggering prophetic passages in the Holy Bible appears in Revelation 9:13–18, where a cataclysmic war is foretold—one so devastating that it will claim the lives of one-third of humanity. Revelation 9:13-20 (New International Version/NIV) reads “The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard their number.
17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur. 18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.”
A closer examination reveals that the characteristics of this prophetic war align chillingly with the capabilities of today’s advanced military technologies—which makes it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to challenge its veracity. It was foretold in the too distant past— nearly 2,000 years ago—intensely long before such technologies existed to literally fulfill it.
The prophecy addresses four angels released at the Euphrates River, unleashing an army of 200 million. The killing force is described as issuing fire, smoke, and sulfur from their mouths—terms that, while rooted in first-century language, uncannily mirror modern weapons of mass destruction. Tanks, missile launchers, jet aircraft, nuclear warheads, and thermobaric or chemical weapons can all unleash similar horrors in moments, engulfing cities and populations in fire and toxic clouds. What John saw in a vision nearly two thousand years ago can now be realized through precision-strike systems, autonomous weapons, and chemical-biological warfare.
Moreover, the geographical reference to the Euphrates region—which spans modern-day Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran—is no mere detail. This corridor remains one of the world’s most volatile and militarized flashpoints. With global powers entangled in strategic interests in this area, a large-scale conflict emanating from this region is not only plausible but increasingly feared.
That the Bible would predict a war capable of such destruction—at a time when such destruction was utterly inconceivable—lends weight to the idea that this prophecy can find literal fulfillment in our time. This war, described in apocalyptic language but recognizable in modern terms, is expected to precede the second coming of Jesus Christ, marking one of the final and most terrible birth pains before His coming reign.

Revelation 9:20–21 indeed reinforces—strongly and unmistakably—that the horrific calamity described in verses 13–18 precedes Christ’s Second Coming. This means that Christ will not have yet come back in glory, because His Second Coming, as described in Revelation 19 and other various books in the Holy Bible, involves judgment, the end of human rebellion, and the establishment of His kingdom. After Christ comes, there occurs no room left for any stubborn rebellion to continue unchecked.
However, these verses in Revelation 9 specify “20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.”
Revelation 9:20–21 confirms beyond doubt that the death of one-third of humanity is not the end of the world, but a prelude to the Second Coming. It proves that humanity is still given a chance to repent—but tragically, most refuse—demonstrating that Christ has not yet come in power to end this rebellion once and for all. This tragic refusal to repent proves something vital: Christ has not yet come back at this point in the prophetic timeline. Were He already reigning, such open defiance of His authority would not continue. The hearts of humanity remain hardened, and the world remains in rebellion—a clear indication that this horrific judgment forms part of the lead-up to, not the aftermath of, Jesus’ Second Coming.
A 2,000-year-old vision that mirrors today’s weapons
Prophecy and modern warfare match perfectly. No person can be challenged, if they argue that Revelation’s sixth trumpet stands on the brink of fulfillment: the foretold fire—the Revelation war exactly matches modern might.
In a world teetering on the edge of chaos, this prophecy serves as both a warning and a wake-up call. It urges us not to dismiss these signs as mere coincidence or metaphor, but to recognize them as unfolding realities that demand spiritual discernment. The question is no longer whether such a war could happen—it is whether we will listen to the warnings, before the perfect King of kings materializes in the sky.

The prophecy found in Revelation 9:13–21 stands as one of the most haunting forecasts in all of Scripture. It covers a cataclysmic war that will erupt from the Euphrates region, unleashing a force that kills one-third of mankind—an outcome so staggering that it defies imagination. At first glance, such destruction might appear symbolic or exaggerated.
Yet a closer, sober reading—as already underscored— reveals a description that aligns chillingly with the capabilities of today’s military technologies—making it extremely difficult, if not impossible, to challenge its veracity. This was foretold nearly 2,000 years ago, long before the invention of nuclear weapons, biological agents, or long-range precision missiles—yet the prophecy reads like tomorrow’s headlines. If you still resist, read If the Japanese emperor had heeded Truman’s warning, Nagasaki could have been spared and Echoes of Hiroshima and Nagasaki: timeless warnings in the shadow of a new nuclear threat.

The army described numbers 200 million—once/then an unfathomable figure, but today entirely plausible when considering the vast human and technological resources available to modern nations. The method of killing is said to be through fire, smoke, and sulfur—language that evokes the terrifying images of thermobaric explosives, chemical warfare, and radioactive fallout. John, writing in first-century terms, seems to be describing warfare of a scale and nature that was inconceivable in his time—but is now a terrifying possibility in ours.
The reference to the Euphrates is also profoundly significant. The modern region that stretches along this ancient river—spanning Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran—figures among the world’s most volatile geopolitical flashpoints. Tensions among global powers, rivalries over energy, religion, and ideology all converge in this region—transforming it into an entirely plausible setting for the outbreak of a massive, global military confrontation.
Thus, the war described in Revelation is not merely a symbolic vision or distant fantasy. It reflects the grim potential of the present and the fulfillment of an ancient warning. It is, unmistakably, one of the final birth pangs of a collapsing world order, ushering in the long-awaited second coming of Christ. That a vision recorded nearly two millennia ago would so accurately reflect modern military realities is not coincidence—it is confirmation.
Will there ever occur a war to wipe out entire humanity?
In a world saturated with predictions—ranging from political forecasts to apocalyptic speculations—it becomes increasingly difficult to separate truth from noise. Yet among all these voices, one stands apart in consistency, credibility, and clarity: the Bible. While modern prophets, visionaries, and conspiracy theorists stir emotions with sensational warnings—including those of an all-consuming global war—the Scriptures remain firm, offering a future that aligns with God’s redemptive plan rather than one of total annihilation.
What makes the Bible exceptional is not merely its spiritual wisdom but its prophetic precision. Unlike vague and ambiguous predictions found in popular culture or alternative spiritual movements, the Bible presents detailed prophecies that have been fulfilled literally and historically. From the rise and fall of empires—Babylon, Medo-Persia, Greece, and Rome—to the scattering and regathering of Israel as well as knowledge explosion (stunning modern technologies) foretold by Daniel in the Old Testament, every significant event it foretold has unfolded exactly as written. Even more compelling, these prophecies were often recorded centuries or millenia before their fulfillment, demonstrating a divine authorship that transcends human estimation or political bias.
This track record compels us to ask ourselves: if everything the Bible predicted in the past has occurred with pinpoint accuracy, why should we not trust what it says about the future?
Importantly, nowhere in Scripture is it stated that humanity will be entirely annihilated through a war. On the contrary, the Bible addresses a final confrontation between good and evil—yes—but always within the boundaries of God’s control and ultimate purpose. The Book of Revelation, often misinterpreted as a manual for doom, is in fact a roadmap toward divine justice and restoration. It states not extinction, but judgment, renewal, and the coming of a new heaven and a new earth.

The Bible does specify, however, that one-third of humanity will be killed during this period of final conflict. This fact is alarming beyond imagination but not difficult for human reason to grasp—especially in an age where modern weapons, particularly nuclear arms, possess destructive power beyond anything previously known. No person can rationally explain how nuclear war might not exterminate all humanity given their horrific intensity. Yet the Bible’s prophetic declarations remain trustworthy, even when they challenge our understanding.
This unintelligibility to human logic invites us to remember that divine wisdom surpasses human comprehension. God’s plan, as revealed in Scripture, controls the limits of destruction and preserves the possibility of redemption. Rather than succumbing to fear over what seems incomprehensible, believers are called to trust in God’s sovereign hand and the precise fulfillment of His word.
Moreover, Scripture continually invites its readers to remain alert and discerning—not by succumbing to fear, but by trusting in God’s plan. Jesus Himself warned of wars and rumors of wars, but added “See that you are not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet” (Matthew 24:6). His words remind us that conflict and chaos do not signal the end of humanity but are signs pointing to a deeper spiritual reality—a call to readiness, not panic.
In these uncertain times, we must anchor our understanding of the future not in hearsay or trending theories, but in the unchanging Word of God. For in it we find not only accurate prophecy but eternal truth—a foundation that does not shift with the winds of fear or speculation. The Bible remains the only source where the future is not a terrifying mystery but a promise unfolding under the sovereign hand of the Creator.
Many have confused the terrifying vision of war in Revelation 9—where demonic forces unleash death upon a third of mankind—with the climactic battle of Armageddon. But they are not the same. Revelation 9 depicts a massive, possibly human or supernatural war, driven by torment and destruction, but it ends without final resolution. In contrast, Revelation 19:11–21 presents a clear picture of Armageddon: not a war between nations, but a decisive confrontation between the forces of evil and the returning Christ. On a white horse rides “Faithful and True,” leading heavenly armies to bring justice. The beast and the kings of the earth wage a war, but their defeat is total and immediate—“the rest were killed with the sword coming out of the mouth of the rider.” One reveals the chaos of judgment unleashed; the other, the final triumph of righteousness.
Why to trust the Holy Bible?

The sole trustworthy source of prophetic truth: Holy Bible. It is no coincidence that the Bible, written over 2,000 years ago, has accurately foretold events that have since come to pass exactly as described. This extraordinary fulfillment of prophecy stands apart from any other ancient text or modern prediction. From the rise and fall of great empires to the detailed life and mission of Jesus Christ, the Bible’s predictions were issued centuries before their actual occurrence. Such precise accuracy cannot be explained by human insight or guesswork alone.
This alone suffices to establish the Bible as a uniquely trustworthy and divinely inspired source. Throughout history, skeptics have tried to disprove its claims, yet each fulfilled prophecy remains undeniable evidence. The Bible’s consistency across centuries and cultures reinforces its credibility. It invites readers to test its words and promises, not blindly but with reason and faith. Because what it has said has happened literally, we can trust it unreservedly about the future. For those seeking truth beyond human speculation, the Bible remains the sole trustworthy source of prophetic guidance.
